Taking testosterone can increase strength and endurance but also the risk of heart, breathing, and skin problems among older men with multiple health problems, according to research published in the July 8 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine. Here is some information about testosterone: • It is a hormone mainly produced by the testes that is generally found in higher quantities in men than women • In men, testosterone is important for maintaining bone density, fat distribution, muscle mass, sexual functioning, as well as production of red blood cells and sperm • Testosterone levels naturally decline with age, and low testosterone levels can lead to sexual, physical, emotional, and sleep changes Researchers from Boston University School of Medicine randomly assigned over 200 men aged 65 and older with multiple health problems and limited mobility to receive either a testosterone or a placebo gel. The men were instructed to use the gel daily for six months. The men all started the study with relatively low testosterone levels. During the study period, 23 of the men using the testosterone gel developed cardiovascular problems, compared with only 5 in the placebo group. The men taking testosterone were also more likely to have adverse effects affecting their breathing and their skin. The risk of cardiovascular adverse events was increased from the moment testosterone therapy started and remained high throughout the treatment period. Strength and endurance were also increased among the men taking testosterone, however. Today's research highlights the potential risks and benefits of testosterone therapy for older men with multiple health problems. #penis enlargement bible reddit #i need to enlarge my penis #male enhancement pills china #penis enlargment surgurt
