Essay Contest ends tomorrow - Monday, Sept 25 at 5pm!

Students - the Essay Contest ends tomorrow, Monday, Sept. 25 at 5pm! Please finalize your essays and be sure to submit them on time!  
Parents - we hold this competition to help prepare each student for their college application process. We have 3 essay categories based on grades:
Grades 7 & 8: Write about the proudest moment in your life.
Grades 9 & 10: Write about a difficult choice you made and how it affected you.
Grades 11 & 12: Where do you see yourself in 2-3 years, and what are you doing today to get there?
First prize winners in each category receive $300. 2nd prize winners in each category receive $200. That's $1,500 in prizes!

The UPA Jog-a-thon is just around the corner!
On October 6th, the Sports Boosters will be holding the UPA Jog-a-thon.  Envelopes were handed out in Advisory this week.  All runners who turn in at least $20 in donations will receive a Jog-a-thon t-shirt, that can be worn to school this year.  All athletes are asked to raise $50.  Sports are entirely funded through donations, so please come and support this event!  Remember, all runners MUST return their jog-a-thon envelopes at the start of the event, and MUST have a parent signature on the envelope.

Middle School:  Run time is 2:10-2:50
Sr. High:  Run time is 3:50 – 4:30
Movie will follow the Sr. High run, starting at approximately 5.  The movie will be in the Amphitheater if the weather is nice.  Pizza and snacks will be sold prior to the movie.

We will have booths again this year.  Back by popular demand are our carnival booths.  $1 per ticket or $5 for 6 tickets.  After your run, you can explore the booths.

PARENTS:  We need you! We are looking for some donations of water and gift cards for raffle prizes.  These can be left at the office.  We also need volunteers to help with the actual event.   If you need volunteer hours or just want to meet some other parents while helping the school, please click the link below and sign up for a volunteer positions.  You can also sign up to donate items on the same link.

UPA Band Concert Tuesday, October 10 at 6:30 pm
Join us for the first UPA Band Concert of the school year!
Great music for your enjoyment.
Yogurtland will be selling yogurt.
Pizza slices and water bottles will also be available for purchase.

Class Giving Contest now over

Thank you to all parents who donated to the PTSO (Parent, Teacher & Student Organization) and returned their forms for the Class Giving Contest. If you forgot to donate and have not returned the form, it is not too late. Please have your child bring the form into either the school office or to their English teacher.  This is the PTSO's main fundraiser for the year. We do not sell candy or magazines, instead we ask for donations directly to the PTSO.  In turn, these donations fund student activities and directly benefit their teachers! Thank you.

Boxtops Collection

Please collect together all your Boxtops and bring them to the school office. We have a jar there for them.  Our kind parent volunteer will be collecting these and sending them to Boxtops on our behalf for the benefit of the school.  This is a great way to contribute directly to the school and it costs you nothing! Thanks so much for taking the time to do this.

Super Smash Bro’s Wii U Tournament

Sign-Ups start this Monday the 25th to Friday the 29th during lunch, in front of the Horton. Teams of 4, selected by you, will go head to head in a 4 minute battle of 8 players, each with three stocks of lifes and items. The tournament will occur every Wednesday during lunch, starting on October 4th until November 1st. The winning Team will receive a prize and for those who are singles will be placed in a team by random. No experience needed, come sign up and have some fun out of it!
